Short updated on some new plants I have gotten for the aquarium and some re-scaping I have done. Some ideas for your scape and lesson in don't be afraid to try new plants and experiment with plants and see what works for you.

90 Gallon "Dutch Style" Planted Aquarium Build Setup

This is a walk through of my setup on my 90 gallon "Dutch Style" planted tank build and the progress. Tank was set up Jan 12th 2014 and everything was built out at one time. Transplant shock,,,, By cutting the tops off before re planting it reduces stress on the plant making it less likely to wilt, die back or turn yellow.....!

What type of plants are the ones near the large rock not the taller grass looking ones but the medium sized that go from the left side of the tank to the right side

Dude thank you for being a normal to the point yet interesting person. Ive been out of the hobby for a long time. My little brother got me back into it after at least 10 years and i have no idea what happened to youtube with fishing keeping but half the people are more flashy then the half ass tanks the keep. To solid man 🤙🏾
a tip: you can watch series at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.

What substrate are you using in this tank shown in the video with the dwarf hairgrass?
Had a large clump and cut it, but then took it out and tore it apart and there were so many roots and runners everywhere! Then I hopped on RUclips and found out this was the correct method. I’m just glad I didn’t kill it! Thanks :)

Your right on over kill I have a 90 gallon with a sunsun canister filter ,and ph is perfect and plants are doing great ,oh I should also mention I have led lights from Walmart and DIY co2 in 2 liter mt dew bottle. Water is crystal clear.....

Smart set up bro, I have a inverter system that gives power for at least 2 days. Also has a smart function that let's u know that the power is off and it is on battery pack.
1,045th subscriber. 🤗 A search for dwarf hairgrass brought me to your channel. I bought a fluval flex and I’m attempting to dry start it with dwarf hairgrass. I’ve never had a planted tank before. I look forward to following your future content and learning as I go!
Quest to FIRE welcome to the channel and thanks for subscribing! Good luck on your planted tank! It’s very exciting taking a new step in the hobby and seeing your progress grow (no pun intended). I’ve got some surprise builds planned for this year I am currently working on in the planning stages. Another Planted tank will be one of them. Since you are doing a dry start on the DHG don’t be surprised if you do see a little melting once you go fully wet as it get acclimated. Don’t get discouraged by this. Just cut back the melt and do water changes every other day to replenish the nutrients and it will rebound.
I'm hoping you keep up with your comments on here cause I just got some HAIR grass it don't look like yours it don't have no roots it looks like cuttings not real sure & it's LONG so can I still plant it or what do I do??
I planted it in a 4 gallon nano and it's done great. Then I planted it in a one gallon cube, unheated, just a small LED and it grows like crazy. I trim it every 2 weeks and it has completely filled the cube. Makes a great light for my nightstand - nothing else, no animals, just grass.

So, I have a question about floor bed for fresh water tank. Should I add soil and sand? Any suggestion on cleaner species as well. Thanks
Do you recommend planting dwarf hairgrass in sand? I have a sand planted aquarium with an amazon sword that's doing well with the sand.
Emily the amazon sword is a more hardy plant which can sustain a wide variety of conditions so they can do well in sand as well. The hairgrass needs a little more care and attention. Usually when you see it planted in sand they have a highly rich nutrient base layer under the sand like ADA or Florite etc. if you have a base layer like that you will be fine. Also not to mention it will give it something to root into as planting in sand would be quite the challenge keeping them rooted or even allowing them to take root. Great question and thanks for asking.

i have a 40 breeder it has no Co2 and I made the mistake of putting dwarf hairgrass in it turned a bit white and is slowly getting better but I'm 2 months in from getting it and no growth
Where did you go? This had potential to be a great channel.
Unfortunately I had to move from my house and into an apartment. They don't allow aquariums nor do I have have room for one. Good news is I have all my tanks equipment and then some. I hope to be in a new house hopefully this summer and if so then this channel will be buzzing with new content as I bring everyone along on the journey of getting them set up from scratch.

i wouldnt use that in the front of your tank it grows very tall its really not a good carpeting plant

thecid990 I would love to do some more and will again one day. Unfortunately, I am living in an apt right now which doesn't allow them and I also don't have the room for it. So it is in storage until I get a new house. Subscribe and when I start to set it up again I will do more videos on the whole set up and start up process. Thanks for watching!
